Microsoft PowerPoint: Presentations That Land
PowerPoint remains the standard business presentation tool. Learn slides, themes, layouts, animations, charts, and how to present without reading the screen.
Learning objectives
- Build a themed deck with consistent layouts.
- Add restrained animations and transitions.
- Use Presenter View to run a professional meeting.
Step-by-step
1. Themes and layouts
Design tab → pick a theme with clean fonts and generous whitespace. Home → Layout to choose the right slide skeleton (Title, Two Content, Section Header).
2. Slide content rules
One idea per slide. 6 bullets max, 6 words each. Larger fonts. Speaker notes carry the details.
3. Animations and transitions
Use sparingly. Fade > everything else. Distraction kills persuasion.
4. Charts
Insert → Chart pulls in an Excel mini-window. Copy live from Excel with Paste Special → Link for auto-updating charts.
5. Presenter View
Slide Show → Use Presenter View. You see notes, next slide, and a timer; the audience only sees the slide.
Key takeaways
- Build a themed deck with consistent layouts.
- Add restrained animations and transitions.
- Use Presenter View to run a professional meeting.
