Resume Tips for Office Jobs

How to write a resume that actually gets interviews.

The top of your resume

Recruiters give resumes 6–10 seconds. Your name, target role, and 2–3 measurable achievements need to fit in the top third of page one.

Put numbers on everything

'Processed invoices' is invisible. 'Processed 300+ invoices per week with 99.5% accuracy' pops. Include your 10-key KPH, typing WPM, and Excel proficiency level.

Get past the ATS

Most applicant tracking systems screen for keywords. Mirror the exact phrasing from the job description (Excel, 10-key, QuickBooks, data entry, accounts payable, etc.) in your resume.
