Why bother?
A cover letter is a short, one-page letter that tells the hiring manager two things: why you want this specific job, and why you'll do it well. Three paragraphs is enough.
Many applications skip the cover letter. Sending one — even a short one — is a small signal that you're serious and organized.
The three-paragraph structure
- Paragraph 1 — Which role you're applying for and one specific reason you're a fit.
- Paragraph 2 — Two or three concrete accomplishments (numbers) that map to the job posting.
- Paragraph 3 — A polite close: availability for an interview, thanks, and your contact info.
Template you can adapt

I would welcome a short interview to discuss how I can contribute to your team. Thank you for considering my application. You can reach me at [phone] or [email].
Sincerely,
[Your Name]
