A mixed workday in miniature
Office Challenge draws from the full mixed pool rather than one format. At Intermediate and above you will see phone numbers with dashes, five-digit ZIP codes, invoice totals with decimals, customer IDs beginning with C, purchase-order references beginning with PO, and long payroll-style figures — arriving in no particular order, exactly as they would in a queue of real paperwork.
Why unpredictability matters
Any single format becomes comfortable with repetition. Real data-entry work rarely gives you that comfort: the next record is a different shape from the last one, and the cost of switching is where hours quietly disappear. This game is designed to make that switching cost visible.
Set the difficulty to Intermediate or Advanced to get the full format mix — the Beginner and Easy pools are plain digits only, so they will not exercise the switching skill this game is built around.
A tip worth trying
Before you key anything, name the format to yourself: phone, ZIP, total, ID. One deliberate word of recognition costs a fraction of a second and prevents the most common error in mixed work, which is keying a value in the shape of the previous one.
