Why invoice totals are different
The values in Invoice Sprint are always formatted as currency — a dollar sign, digits, then exactly two decimal places. You have to reproduce the string exactly, punctuation included, which is what makes it harder than keying bare digits even when the number of characters is similar.
Amount ranges scale with difficulty, so Beginner sits in the hundreds while the upper levels push into five and six figures. Longer amounts mean more places for a transposed pair to hide.
Where this shows up at work
Accounts payable and receivable work is largely this task repeated for hours: read a figure off a document, key it into a system, move on. A single transposed digit in a total is the kind of error that surfaces weeks later during reconciliation, which is why accuracy is weighted so heavily in this game's scoring.
A useful habit to build here: key the dollars, the decimal point and the cents as three separate movements rather than one long run. It slows you slightly and catches a surprising number of misplaced decimals.
